Disclaimer
This page states plainly what BitrateCraft is, what it is not, and the limits a reader should keep in mind. It sits behind every article on the site and is meant to be read before you rely on anything published here.
1. Independent publication
BitrateCraft is an independent editorial desk. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to the HandBrake project, its maintainers, its contributors, or any other software project, vendor, or standards body named in its articles. Project and product names are used only to identify the software or standard being discussed, and their appearance does not suggest any sponsorship, partnership, or approval in either direction.
2. No hosted software
This site publishes text and diagrams. It does not host, distribute, or operate any program, and it does not run an encoding service on your behalf. Nothing here is a file you obtain from us, and the desk has no software to hand out. Where an article explains how to set up or configure a tool, that tool comes from its own project under that project's own terms and licence, and any question about it belongs with that project rather than with this desk.
What this site is
- An independent editorial desk.
- A publisher of explanatory articles and diagrams.
- A place to read about encoding behaviour and settings.
What this site is not
- Not the HandBrake project or any part of it.
- Not a host or supplier of any program.
- Not a source of professional or legal advice.
3. Accuracy limits
Articles are written with care, but encoding behaviour is not fixed. The result of a given setting depends on the hardware, the build and version of the tool, the container, the source material, and the machine's load at the time. Figures quoted in an article are illustrative of the desk's own observations and are not a promise about what you will see. Where a version changes behaviour, an article written before that change may no longer describe it exactly.
4. No warranty
The site is provided as it stands, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The desk does not warrant that the site will be available without interruption, that it is free of errors, or that any article is complete or current at the moment you read it.
5. No professional advice
Nothing on this site is legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice, and nothing here creates a professional relationship of any kind. A reader who needs advice for a specific situation should consult a qualified professional in the relevant field.

6. External references and third-party material
Articles may describe documentation, standards, or projects that the desk does not control. Such references are provided for orientation only. The desk does not maintain those resources, cannot correct them, and is not responsible for what they contain or for any change made to them after an article is written.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the desk and its editors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of this site or from reliance on anything published on it, including lost time, lost data, and lost profit. Where the law does not allow a full exclusion, liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.
8. Corrections and contact
If you find an error, a stale figure, or a claim that no longer matches the software, write to desk@bitratecraft.org and describe the page and the problem. Corrections are made in the article itself and are noted at the foot of the page. Legal notices go to legal@bitratecraft.org. The desk's postal address is BitrateCraft Editorial Desk, 2610 Webberville Road, Suite 214, Austin, TX 78702, United States.
