Contact the Editorial Desk
The editorial desk reads every message it receives and answers technical questions in the order they arrive. This page lists the desk's direct contact details, explains which address to use for which kind of message, and provides a short form for readers who prefer not to open a mail client. The form posts to an internal acknowledgement page and stores nothing.

Which address to use
Use the editorial address for questions about published material, requests to clarify a setting, and reports that a described behaviour no longer matches the current release. Use the legal address for corrections, rights matters and anything that concerns the accuracy of a statement about a product or a person. Messages sent to the wrong address are forwarded rather than discarded, but they take an extra day to reach the right reader.
A useful technical message contains five things: the page path, the tool and version, the exact settings or argument list, the properties of the source file, and the observed result. Messages that include all five are reproduced on the first attempt. Messages that describe a problem without any of them usually need a round of correspondence before work can begin, which is why the form below asks for a topic.
Feedback form
The form below is for general feedback, page corrections and topic suggestions. It does not accept attachments, and it does not store anything on a server: it simply carries the entered text to a local acknowledgement page so that the desk's own records stay consistent.
Include the tool and version in the message body whenever a behaviour is in question. HandBrake, FFmpeg and Shutter Encoder all change their defaults between releases, so a report without a version cannot be reproduced reliably.
What the desk does with a message
Every message is read by a person. Reports that identify a factual error are checked against the current release of the tool named in the message; if the error is confirmed, the page is revised and the correction is dated. Clarification requests are usually answered directly and, where several readers ask the same question, folded into the relevant page or into the frequently asked questions list. Topic suggestions are logged and considered when the next batch of pages is planned.
Response times
Corrections that name a page and a release are normally answered within two working days, because they can be tested immediately. General questions about settings are answered within a week, and topic suggestions receive a short acknowledgement without a schedule. Messages that arrive during a release cycle, when the desk is retesting pages after an encoder update, may take longer; in that case the reply states the delay rather than leaving the message unanswered.
Site and correspondence policy
BitrateCraft is published from Austin, Texas, and writes in United States English. Correspondence is handled in the same language. The desk does not accept advertising placements inside articles, does not publish sponsored comparisons, and does not take payment in exchange for coverage of a tool. Where a tool is described, it is described by observed behaviour and by the design choices its authors made, not by the terms its seller prefers.
Readers who want to follow changes to a page should check the page itself, since revisions are dated where they occur. Requests to remove a page are considered only when they identify a specific factual defect or a rights issue, and they are answered from the legal address.
